Jung offered it as a way to take seriously the human experience of meaningful pattern without claiming a causal mechanism. It sits close to symbolic intelligence: both describe the mind finding meaning in coincidence and image. Held honestly, synchronicity is something to reflect on rather than proof of anything — a prompt for attention, not a law of the universe.
