Descendant
Definition
The point directly opposite the ascendant in a birth chart, the cusp of the seventh house — representing partnership, close one-to-one relationships, and the qualities you seek in, or project onto, others.
The descendant is the point directly opposite the ascendant in a birth chart — the sign setting in the west as the ascendant rises in the east. It marks the cusp of the seventh house, the house of partnership.
If the ascendant is you — how you meet the world — the descendant is the other: what you look for in close relationships, the qualities you’re drawn to in a partner, and often the traits you find easier to see in others than in yourself. It’s one half of the relationship axis of the chart, and, like the ascendant it mirrors, it depends on an accurate birth time.
