Cusp

Definition

The boundary line between two zodiac signs or two houses in an astrological chart. A house cusp marks where one house begins; being 'born on the cusp' means a birthday near the boundary between two signs.

A cusp is a boundary line in an astrological chart — either between two zodiac signs or between two houses. Each house begins at its cusp, so the “cusp of the tenth house” is simply where that house starts.

The phrase you’ll hear most is “born on the cusp” — meaning a birthday that falls near the changeover between two sun signs, such as late April, between Aries and Taurus. It’s worth clearing up a common myth here: you aren’t both signs. The Sun is only ever in one sign at a given moment, so once your chart is calculated for your exact date (and, ideally, time), your sun sign is definite. People born near a cusp may simply feel a blend because the neighbouring sign’s season is close — but astronomically, there’s no in-between.
